NatCat Redesign

THE CHALLENGE

We are redesigning the webpage for The National Cat Protection Agency at NatCat.org. We want to improve the webpage and make it more usable and easier to navigate. We want to help users easily adopt, volunteer and donate. The homepage currently appears to be very outdated and poorly maintained. We hope to create a clean, contemporary design in order to improve the organization’s reputation.

Current NatCat home page:
DMV - Current Version
  • We want to redesign their webpage and make it more usable and easier to navigate.
  • By improving the overall heuristics, it will allow users to easily adopt, volunteer and donate.
  • Their webpage is very outdated and poorly maintained, which we believe does not reflect this great organization.
  • NatCat - Survey Results
    Interview & Online Survey Results
  • This yielded that users favor a more modern and visually appealing website when they are looking to adopt, donate or volunteer.
  • Through our interviews, we also confirmed our assumption that they are less likely to trust the current NATCAT website because of its outdated appearance.
  • Some users even said they felt uncomfortable donating money to the organization because the webpage did not appear trustworthy.

We derived Ella from our research as the standard for all our design decisions moving forward. From here we were able to create a UX Scenario and User Journey Map.

    THE PROBLEM

We believe that people in the market for new pets have a lot of options and that creating a usable website may solve this problem by allowing its users to easily search for adoptable cats as well as quickly find information on volunteering and donating.

We will know we have succeeded when more adoptions and donations are completed and user engagement increases.
